42 Draft Designs - 3" Turbo Back - TT 225
Maximum Power - Precision Fitment - Incredible Sound
42 Draft Designs turbo-back exhaust system is the ultimate exhaust upgrade for your Mk1 Audi TT 225. Built right here in the USA, our unique turbo-back system delivers unbeatable power gains and exquisite sound without a single compromise.
This exhaust system is complete from turbo to tailpipe and includes everything necessary for successful installation.
42 Draft Designs downpipes are available in two series: Street and Race. Street series downpipes include a catalytic converter. Race series downpipes include a test pipe. If you would like the ability to switch between street and race series you may purchase a cat section or test pipe at any time. See Related Items below to browse available options.
If you're having trouble deciding which downpipe series to choose we recommend Street. Chances are you'll be driving your car on public roads, so keep it legal and grab a test pipe for race day.
Our stainless steel upgrade is straight-forward. We build your system using 304 stainless wherever possible. Starting with the flanges, we use 3/8" thick 304 stainless steel for every flange. Flanges are cut with precision on our OMAX Waterjet. Piping is mandrel bent per system using our CNC Mandrel Bender. We use the highest quality 304 stainless tubing designed for mandrel bending. Mild steel components such as 02 bungs and hangers are replaced with 304 stainless steel equivalents. We even replace the hardware with stainless steel bolts & copper locking nuts. Nothing is left to chance.
If road salt and extreme winters are in your future, consider upgrading to stainless steel.
42 Draft Designs now offers v-band connection flanges with our stainless steel exhaust systems. Compared to 3-bolt flanges, exhaust systems built with v-band flanges are easier to install and adjust. V-band connections don't require a gasket, and can be serviced with a single tool. Overall, v-band flanges speed-up initial install and race-day component changes.
Our v-band flanges are CNC machined in-house from 304 stainless steel. We've created a male/female fitment specification for our flanges which aids in sealing the connection. We use Clampco stainless steel v-band clamps. Due to the material cost and manufacturing time, v-bands will remain a premium option.
Please add 2-5 days to the advertised fabrication time when purchasing our stainless steel option. Due to the size of our exhaust lineup it's impossible for us to stock every system in stainless. Typically, stainless exhaust systems are made-to-order. If you are facing a deadline, please contact us before ordering for an accurate lead time.
This turbo-back is known to fit the following vehicles:
2000-2006 Audi TT 225 1.8T Quattro
Important Fitment Note:
If your car is still equipped with OEM engine/transmission/dogbone mounts fitment issues may arise. As these vehicles age, OEM mounts tend to sag due to the weight of the engine and transmission hanging from the rubber mounts. This may cause the downpipe to make contact with the rear subframe. It is HIGHLY recommended that you replace your engine and transmission mounts to avoid fitment issues and potential rattles. Replacing the dogbone mount is a good start, but it will not always fix the issue if the motor is hanging too low.
TT225 downpipes now feature an adjustable turbo flange to help with fitment issues related to worn mounts. The adjustment may allow subframe clearance unless the mounts are too worn.
Polyurethane transmission mount inserts are HIGHLY recommended for this application.
*Model years listed are based on US models. European model years may differ. If shopping for a vehicle sold outside the US please match chassis designation before matching model year.
180hp TT Owners Please Note
We are aware that many 180hp FWD and 180Q owners are converting to 225 turbochargers and exhaust systems. Before purchasing any of our TT exhaust components for your conversion, please contact us to discuss your project. The internet may say "it will fit," but our experience proves otherwise. There are distinct differences between the 180FWD, 180Q and 225 stock exhaust systems that many will deny. We have proven these differences and we urge you to contact us before purchasing exhaust parts for your conversion so that we may steer you in the right direction.
